TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated work experience in facility maintenance and supervision. Preference is given to individuals with related training, certifications, and licenses.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: Establish and maintain safe and clean facilities and grounds that meet the development and educational needs of students and the school community.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishes and administers schedules and procedures for the regular, ongoing custodial care of school facilities including daily cleaning and routine maintenance, as well as responding to requests to clean up unexpected spills/messes.
- Assumes responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day and following procedures for safety, security, and energy use. This includes inspection of fire/safety equipment, raising/lowering the U.S. flag, arming/disarming security systems, and monitoring the function of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Coordinates with administrators to recruit, hire, and train custodial staff, and to assign daily schedules and duties, and to supervise and evaluate custodial staff.
- Provides the administrator with a yearly budget that provides for cleaning, maintenance, inspections, and improvements of the facility and grounds.
- Orders maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment, maintains an inventory of needed materials, and trains custodial staff on their proper use.
- Inspects the facility for issues, anticipates future needs, and participates in the development of long-range facility planning with administrators to anticipate upkeep and improvement projects for facilities and systems.
- Conducts an ongoing program of scheduled general maintenance and repair including the inspections and servicing of equipment and systems.
- Regulates HVAC systems to maintain an appropriate environment and to ensure efficient use of water and energy.
- Monitors air and water quality and submits necessary results and reports.
- Maintains school grounds including sports fields and playground areas, including grass cutting, tree pruning, leaf mulching, snow removal and sanding/salting, and landscaping to keep all areas safe and attractive.
- Complies with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for acquiring, storing, and disposing of maintenance/custodial materials. Ensures appropriate removal of trash, recycling, and waste.
- Acquires and maintains Class A underground storage certification, and any other training/certifications required of the position.
- Acquires and maintains computer technology skills needed to perform the duties of the position including communication with vendors/contractors and system maintenance.
- Oversees the facility for special events beyond the normal school schedule as needed.
- Uses basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills to conduct routine maintenance and to supervise such work by contractors.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month full-time position; compensation and benefits in accordance with Bartlett School District Non-Contracted Personnel Policy. Anticipated Start Date: September 2025
