JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Reading Specialist (15hrs./week) - 2023-2024SY
QUALIFICATIONS:
- NH teacher certification in Reading and Writing Specialist #0037 or proof of eligibility for NH certification
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Experience preferred but not required
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide all students with a quality educational program in which they reach their full potential
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and prepare instruction based upon District curriculum and student needs
- Demonstrate knowledge of content area and child development
- Provide instruction in academic area for grade span following district curriculum, setting high and attainable outcomes
- Design and use assessment data to monitor progress of all students towards established standards, maintaining accurate records
- Create an environment of respect and rapport that establishes a culture of learning
- Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
- Communicate with students and their families
- Collaborate with other educators within the school and across the District
- Implement 504 and IEP accommodations and modifications
- Actively participate within the professional community, growing professionally, reflecting on teaching and demonstrating professionalism
- Follow District policies and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned by the principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Jackson Contracted Employees Personnel Policies
WORK YEAR: 187 day / school year position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Jackson School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. The principal will be the evaluator.
