POSITION SUMMARY

The Transportation Manager, under guidance of the Operations Manager, will have ownership of all aspects of School Bus Service (SBI) Transporation Safety, Operations, and compliance requirements. This employee will develop a strategic and tactical plan to develop, train and retain Bus Drivers and Bus Aides. This employee will be innovative in growing the business aggressively and profitably. This employee will be attentive to DOT and FMCSA compliance for SBI Yellow and Motorcoach. This employee will assist SBI Charter Operations Manager in account growth and profitability objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop business goals and action plan to promote profitable growth. Facilitate actions to improve performance and drive business transformation.

  • Collaborates with a variety of personnel from other departments, districts, state agencies, and organizations relating to pupil transportation.
  • Establishes and maintains positive customer relationships with parents, schools, and
  • Responsible for implementing new methods of managing/dispatching drivers, servicing accounts, recruiting drivers at the local level and taking full ownership of the marketplace.

  • Establish solid business relationships and maintains open, accurate and timely two-way communications with drivers and internal associates.
  • Develop a recruiting plan to hire and retain experienced Bus Drivers and Bus Aides. Execute with the location Recruiter an advertising and marketing campaign to attract drivers.
  • Responsible to ensure line of business comply with HR requirements (EEOC, Affirmative Action and other employment rules and regulations).
  • Identify, hire, mentor and develop associates within line of business as well other areas of School Bus Inc. including yellow and motorcoach operations, driver recruiting, and safety.
  • Responsible for DOT and OSHA compliance for all location(s) within area of operational
  • Ensure that all Driver Qualifications on location meet FMCSA
  • Planning, organizing, assigning, scheduling, and directing the work of all employees in this persons reporting structure.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelors Degree in Business or Transportation and/or 5 years of experience in the trasporation industry.

Experience:

  • Ability to understand and implement P&L, cost control and revenue generation

  • Ability to lead and develop a high performance environment despite the challenge of a high pressure critical workplace.
