GENERAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive all students who come to the health office, determine their needs, provide basic first aid or care for minor illnesses as outlined in the School City of Hammond guidelines and policies. Manage routine activities and updates health records on a daily basis. Duties are performed under the delegation of the School Nurse.

Manage routine activities and updates health records on a daily basis. Duties are performed under the delegation of the School Nurse.
Specific Responsibilities In This Position
- Participate in professional development and health services staff meetings
- Provide basic medical care and first aid to students, staff and visitors in accordance with School City of Hammond procedures, guidelines and policies.
- Maintain an organized and professional health office with properly functioning equipment
- Maintain health office supplies
- Assist the school nurse in identifying the medical needs of students
- Assist in inputting information into the state immunization system
- Assist in maintaining accurate and updated health records
- Prepare and submit all required reports for the Health Service department
- Perform necessary and state mandated health screenings
- Assist parents and students with mandated health information
- Participate in Wellness Programs
- Communicates all accidents, injuries and/or medical concerns to the school nurse and the school administrator, as needed
- Complete On the Job Injury, accident and incident reports as soon as possible
- Follow up on illnesses, injuries, absentees or other health related
- Perform other duties as delegated by the School Nurse, Building Principal, or the Supervisor of Health Services
- Basic knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
- Must have good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate or Indiana Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Bi-lingual abilities would be considered an asset
