A Successful Candidate Will
- Show initiative and perseverance in creating a structure for the role of Elementary Instructional Coach (TOSA) within our current team
- Conduct needs assessments, develop literacy related professional development and evaluate the impact on instructional practice and student learning
- Assist teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction and providing rigorous, relevant and engaging learning experiences for all students
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of literacy content
- Assist teachers with intentional planning using the 27J Tools
- Continuously deepen knowledge and expertise of best practices of elementary instruction including literacy
Required:
- Five years recent experience teaching reading
- Teaching Licensing/Certification as required by the Colorado Department of Education in Elementary Education and/or Early Childhood
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Literacy or Curriculum and Instruction
- Coaching experience
- Training in various coaching models
- Knowledge of READ Act
- Experience with Acadience (DIBELS Next), assessment data warehouses, data cycles
- Experience with coaching intentional planning
- Experience with Fastbridge and ReadyGen
- Work with elementary teachers to implement the "Thinking Classroom" and the 27J Instructional Model and 27J Tools
- Implement literacy instruction for elementary teachers through the following research-based practices: observation, coaching, model lessons, collaborative lesson planning, and small and large group PD
- Collaborate with teams to assist with disaggregating and analyzing data to help guide teacher's instructional decisions
- Coach foundational literacy skills to guide teachers in diagnosing individual student reading and writing strengths and weaknesses and match these areas to the appropriate strategies and resources for early literacy
- Build capacity in school-based leaders around effective instructional practices through the teaching-learning cycle and continuous improvement
- Have a strong understanding of elementary literacy and the role foundational skills have with older students
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with adult learners
- Other duties as assigned
