Job Overview
The School District of Beloit is seeking a dedicated individual for the In-School Instructional (ISI) Support position at Beloit Memorial High School. This role will drive student achievement by providing oversight, support, and instruction to students that have been referred through the District’s discipline referral process, whilst ensuring a structured and supportive environment for academic and behavioral growth. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining school discipline while assisting students in staying engaged with their coursework. This position proactively seeks methods to continually engage students to drive the District’s goals and initiatives to decrease student discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and maintain a conducive classroom environment that supports SEL, monitors ISI assignments, tests, and appropriate instructional assistance, as well as promote student engagement.
- Provide academic support by coordinating with teachers to ensure students have assignments and necessary materials.
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers and administrators to address academic or behavioral concerns.
- Maintain a structured, quiet, and orderly environment conducive to learning.
- Ensure all supervision includes security measures to uphold building safety measures. Refer behavior concerns to building administration.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and work completion, ensuring compliance with school policies and behavioral expectations.
- Implement behavior management strategies and interventions as needed.
- Collect data to inform instructional and programmatic decisions at the student, grade, and school levels on students sent to ISI including reasons, frequency, and recidivism data.
- Coordinate and attend PBIS, Tier 2, MLSS, re-entry and academic meetings under the direction of building administrators.
- Lead and/or partner with other District staff members to provide professional development.
- Stay current on District policies, procedures, and student expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma and one of the following:
- 48 college credits, OR
- Associate’s degree, OR
- Successful completion of a formal assessment test (ACT WorkKeys, Parapro-Assessment ETS, or ParaEducator Master Teacher).
- Shall be eligible for Wisconsin Special Education Program Aide Certification #883.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds, where applicable.
- Possess basic information technology and media skills to support instruction.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and families.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an educational setting or with student behavior management.
- Familiarity with conflict resolution and restorative discipline techniques.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Work will be performed primarily at an assigned school building.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds as required for assisting students.
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and other physical activities associated with student supervision and support.
- Frequently must position self to heights under 3’ by stooping or squatting.
- Understands complex problems and explores alternative solutions.
- Organizes thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.
- Constantly works with others; must converse and be understood verbally and in written form.
