Description
The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Physical Education Teacher at Hintgen Elementary School beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. Projected start date: August 12, 2025
Wisconsin certification 1530 Physical Education required.
Wisconsin certification 1530 Physical Education required.
Preference to a candidate who has experience and knowledge with Responsive Classroom teaching practices. Additionally, preference for a candidate who has engaged in co-teaching in order to best meet students’ needs universally and in partnership with services and supports for students as identified by their IEPs. Strong knowledge and understanding around equitable practices and a building team member will be prioritized. This position is a 1.0 FTE at Hintgen with additional sections at various district placements to fulfill the 1.0 FTE.

- Knowledge of current practices and methodologies (i.e. life-long fitness wellness activities) in the teaching of Health Education and Physical Education.
- Knowledge of and ability to teach students with special needs.
- Knowledge of Wisconsin Standards for Health Education.
- Ability to utilize computers and other technologies, including Heart Rate Monitors, Tri-Fit Machines, etc.
Position responsibilities:
- Develops and plans instructional activities, lesson plans, and/or individual educational plans.
- Conducts classroom instruction based on established curriculum.
- Monitors student performance and behavior and takes appropriate action.
- Participates in parent/teacher conferences. Interprets student strengths, weaknesses, and/or problems a student may be experiencing in the classroom.
- Collaborates with other staff in evaluating individual student problems, approaches to instructional units, and new teaching technologies or procedures available.
- Develops student tests and evaluates results.
- Determines student grades for instructional units.
- Maintains and provides accurate records as required.
- Participates in curriculum review, staff development and/or training, and keeps abreast of information in the field of education.
- Implement Physical Fitness Assessment program.
- Completes additional tasks as required by administrators.
- Co-curricular positions - ability or interest in coaching one or more co-curricular activities.
