What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer, Broadcast Communication position at School District of Lee County?
The School District of Lee County is currently seeking a Engineer, Broadcast Communications to join our Communications team at the District office in Fort Myers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Five years of professional experience operating and maintaining both digital and analog multimedia and broadcast equipment, applications and systems.
- Experience with analog and digital broadcast systems, IP-based broadcasting systems, and streaming technologies.
- Experience with video editing and production software.
- Valid Florida driver license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) Certification (any), such as the following: Certified Broadcast Technologist (CBT), Certified Broadcast Networking Technologist (CBNT), Certified Broadcast Engineer (CBE)
- Experience with multimedia systems such as Aurora Multimedia Systems
- Proficiency with automation systems and remote broadcast technologies.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Install, configure, and maintain broadcast equipment, including video and audio systems, transmitters, servers, and automation systems with a primary focus on live Boardroom productions.
- Diagnose and repair technical issues in broadcast systems to prevent disruptions to live broadcasts.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance of broadcast equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Monitor live broadcasts to ensure high quality audio and video output, quickly respond to resolve technical issues that arise.
- Assist in the emergency maintenance and repair of analog and production equipment district-wide.
- Implement the installation and integration of new broadcast technologies and equipment into existing systems.
- Perform software and firmware installation and updates to assigned equipment as required.
- Provide technical assistance to district-level and school-based staff in the operation of equipment and proper utilization of media.
- Maintain accurate records of all technical operations, including maintenance logs, equipment inventories, and system diagrams.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for broadcasting processes.
- Deliver, set up and operate audio/visual equipment at various district locations and special venues.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and tools in broadcasting to enhance production efficiency and quality.
- Assist in ensuring legal and regulatory compliance in terms of copyright and the Federal Communications Commission legislation as applicable.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in broadcast engineering.
- Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of a team or work unit’s goals, objectives and activities.
