Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High School diploma or equivalent.
Six (6) years of experience in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and repair, including centrifugal, screw type, water, and air-cooled pumps, air handlers, and other related equipment.
Valid Florida driver's license.
Valid Type I, Type II, and Type III Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Completion of an AC vocational or journeymen's training program.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills.
Electrical and mechanical knowledge and skills and basic plumbing skills.
Knowledge of installation and repair of pneumatic valves.
Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws / regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
Ability to make repairs and modifications to chilled water units and diagnose, repair, and maintain all other refrigeration equipment.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities
Lay out work, estimate costs, and requisition materials for assigned work orders.
Receive work orders and inspect and evaluate HVAC chillwater needs of District facilities as they relate to maintenance and renovation.
Requisition parts and materials at minimum cost; complete and route paperwork in a timely manner.
Repair, rebuild, and maintain chillers and cooling towers and other related equipment.
Understand and maintain the relationship between computer technology, control of valves, dampers, and air handlers.
Interact with staff at building sites to gather, relay, and update information needed to resolve air conditioning issues.
Assist in the instruction of personnel on specific tasks when required.
Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
Utilize basic District computer applications for communication, training, and recording keeping.
