Job Goal
Work in collaboration with all staff to carry out behavior interventions that are consistent with practices that support the HES School-Wide Social Emotional Learning Plan.
Hours
M, Tu, Th,& F - 9:00 to 3:30 & W - 9:00 to 3:00 (29 hours per week)
Qualifications
- Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to support students with behavioral strategies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to make positive connections with students and build relationships
- Ability to supervise children and manage student conflict
- Must have a pleasant disposition and the ability to rationally detach from difficult situations
- Demonstrate knowledge and the ability to consistently apply behavioral interventions
- Willingness to be trained and coached on Conscious Discipline, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, and Restorative practices
- Maintain confidentiality with all student matters
- Keyboarding/computer skills to record behavior incidents and track interventions in EduClimber
Performance Responsibilities
- Respond to calls for assistance that result in supporting students for self regulation, de-escalation, time to refocus or managing emotions
- Assist students on scheduled sensory breaks
- Collaborate with the school counselor and other behavior interventionist(s) to determine where additional support/interventions are needed with students
- Supervise at recess, which may include conflict resolution between students, organized games, and general visibility and attentiveness at recess
- Supervise the cafeteria during lunch time, building relationships and connecting with students.
- Track and report necessary behavioral data in EduClimber
- Coach students on responsible decision-making, organization, and conducting themselves respectfully with peers and adults
- Learn, apply, and share behavioral strategies that meet the unique behavioral needs of each student requiring a behavior intervention
- Work with staff to identify patterns of behavior and develop appropriate proactive responses
- Help students resolve conflicts and repair relationships
- Help plan and implement behavioral interventions that meet the needs of students
- Work in the classroom supporting students when not supporting behavior interventions
- Understand when to involve the counselor and/or principal
Other Tasks/Responsibilities
- Provide the principal with a daily log sheet of students supported through radio calls
- Manage and organize extra resources to assist teachers in succeeding with the HES School-Wide Social Emotional Learning Plan
- Promote CARES byposting pictures of students practicing CARES, updating the CARES recognition bulletin board and sharing pictures with the clerical assistant
- Assist with Reading program pictures
- Serve as a morning greeter while supervising the hallways
- Assist with an end-of-the-day hallway duty
Job Type: Part-time
