Paraprofessional

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Southern Boulevard School as a full-time paraprofessional. The ideal candidate will support classroom teachers in delivering quality education to students, particularly those with diverse learning needs. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, assisting students in their academic and social development, and collaborating effectively with educators and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them understand and engage with the curriculum.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding individual student needs.
• Support students with special needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Facilitate a positive classroom environment by promoting respect, cooperation, and effective communication among students.
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods to ensure safety and positive interactions.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge pertinent to the role.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support student learning and development.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
  
  

Requirements

• Substitute Credential or Teaching Certificate
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of child development and effective teaching strategies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to varying classroom dynamics.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Must pass background checks and any required state certifications or training.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
