Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them understand and engage with the curriculum.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding individual student needs.
- Support students with special needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Facilitate a positive classroom environment by promoting respect, cooperation, and effective communication among students.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods to ensure safety and positive interactions.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge pertinent to the role.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support student learning and development.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
- Substitute Credential or Teaching Certificate
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of child development and effective teaching strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to varying classroom dynamics.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Must pass background checks and any required state certifications or training.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
