Teacher of Science

Summary

Chatham Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Science to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science through engaging lessons and hands-on experiences. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and a love for inquiry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
• Deliver engaging and interactive science instruction in a variety of formats, including lectures, labs, and group projects.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and promotes student engagement.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to support student growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and integrate science with other subjects.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with scientific advancements.
• Supervise and mentor students during laboratory experiments and field trips, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Contribute to the development of the science curriculum and participate in school-wide initiatives.
• Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and inclusivity within the classroom and school community.
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Valid teaching certification in Science for middle school grades.
• Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and principles across various disciplines, including biology, chemistry, and physics.
• Previous teaching experience at the middle school level is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Proficient in the use of technology and digital tools to enhance learning experiences.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for teaching science.
