The School District of Washington is currently seeking a WMS Cheer Coach.

POSITION SUMMARY (Primary purpose of job)
Coaches are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning assisting each participant to achieve. Education includes sport skill, technique, and an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship. This position is an extension of the educational environment of the District.
SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE (Supervisory scope, district impact and budgetary responsibility)
Coaches are responsible for supervising students, providing instruction on the skills necessary for achievement in the activity, and coordinating all aspects of the activity. Communicating with parents, patrons, staff, and media to advance the District vision, mission, and goals is critical.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Major duties which the position exists to perform)
- Assume responsibility for the regulations under MSHSAA and other legal requirements to ensure student participation, safety, conduct, and general welfare of the students participating in the activity .
- Build and maintain secure relationships with students as well as maintaining professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and patrons in order to increase performance and participate in an interscholastic activity.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with timelines including but not limited to, equipment/supply inventories, student and team records, coach records, and facility usage and records.
- Represent the District maintaining integrity, confidentiality, and conduct.
- Other duties as directed by the supervisor.
- Regular & reliable attendance as it aligns with the scope of this position.
OTHER DUTIES (duties which the incumbent can be expected to perform)
- Additional duties necessary to supervise students, monitor events, or assist in an emergency situation.
- Attend building events such as open houses, curriculum night, informational meetings, and events designed to bring the public into the District as requested or needed to advance the activity.
- Occasional or sporadic duties such as taking tickets at an event, participating on an interview committee, covering a duty of a colleague, etc.
- Participate in professional development activities and/or work outside of the typical sport term.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise students at all times and/or as directed by supervisor
Supervise events as described above and/or directed by supervisor
Supervise other coaches if applicable and volunteers
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum educational requirements, licenses, skills and experience required as well as preferred options)
Valid Missouri teaching certification preferred
One year of teaching or educational experience preferred
One year of coaching experience preferred
Eligible candidates must be able to meet the MSHSAA coaching minimum requirements

The environment will have extreme temperatures during meal preparation and is loud when students are in the area. There is a greater than average risk of minor burns and cuts.
