Position Overview: The School District of Washington is seeking a Program Coordinator to assist in managing District implementation of IDEA. Special Education Program Coordinators are responsible for providing leadership with IDEA implementation. Our Program Coordinators must work collaboratively with each other and the Director of Special Education to support staff, specialized programming, professional development endeavors, and the District with LEA responsibilities. The ideal candidate demonstrates high level organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present information to multiple groups both internal and external. This position has a key role in managing District resources and conducting business practices in an open and consistent manner in accordance with District expectations, state, and federal law.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain frequent communications (oral, written, and electronic) with supervisor, office staff, relevant District staff, and families as it relates to the scope of this position. Specific examples include communications regarding compliance, instruction, professional development, procedures and processes.
- Maintain appropriate records related to IDEA processes, inventory management, student records, and documentation for the purposes of resource management, efficiency, compliance, and sunshine law requests.
- Utilize multiple types of software related to District financial records, inventory management, record keeping, vendors, and other operational tools necessary to complete the functions of this position.
- Conduct training as necessary to ensure operational procedures are met with respect to IDEA implementation and other functions assigned as part of the special education department.
- Accurately prepare materials needed for presentations, public view, reporting, board meetings, sunshine law requests, audits, and information requested by the Director of Special Education.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with District policies but specifically related to the requirements of IDEA and associated operations that require confidentiality.
- Adhere to a strict code of ethics related to District funds, resources, and the procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance is necessary in order to perform the functions of this position.
- Perform associated roles as required to respond in an emergency as a District employee. This may include assignments related to student reunification and/or some type of school building emergency as needed/required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required for District operations.
Other Related Responsibilities:
- Maintain appropriate personnel records for all school employees under his/her direct supervision
- Attend all conferences and workshops necessary to maintain and enhance knowledge in areas of general responsibility as assigned.
- Attend meetings and prepare such reports or information as may be required.
- Serve as a liaison with families, other schools or agencies and officials of the District.
- Maintain confidential nature of all school related material as required.
- Schedule and coordinates associated calendars, record keeping, etc. associated with the execution of this position.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Eleven-month position with applicable health and ancillary insurance, paid leave, and scheduled time off. Starting salary established by the Board of Education with an established range of 72,600 to 102,000, depending on experience.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Education in accordance with the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
