Reading Interventionist
Position Overview
The Reading Interventionist supports student achievement in English Language Arts, with a primary focus on reading. This role involves providing targeted instruction to students who are struggling with literacy skills, conducting assessments, and collaborating with teachers and families to enhance reading development. The interventionist works with students individually or in small groups to improve their reading fluency, comprehension, and overall literacy skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, and assessments for intervention sessions.
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ reading levels and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide targeted small-group instruction focusing on specific reading skills such as decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
- Deliver one-on-one interventions for students requiring intensive reading support.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to discuss student progress and implement effective reading strategies.
- Lead or participate in professional development sessions, sharing best practices in reading instruction.
- Assist in developing and implementing literacy programs and instructional materials to support student learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, reading, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience (preferred).
