What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Adjustment Counselor position at School for Exceptional Studies?
Students at SES have been identified with disabilities such as emotional impairments, health impairments, and/or intellectual impairments. These students were not able to make effective academic progress in their neighborhood schools and now receive specialized supports in the district's therapeutic day school. In this setting, counselors are part of a clinical team that provide a range of services from crisis/case management, staff training, consultation, family engagement, and/or direct service provision via structured psychoeducational groups. Collaboration for with other multidisciplinary team members is highly valued and counselors have the opportunity to participate in leadership opportunities via committees and/or the leadership team.

Expectations:
-Attend clinical, restraint, IEP and daily check in/out meetings as requested
-Assist in identification of Tier Two/Tier Three students
-Prepare for and implement groups related to social and coping skills for Tier Two/Tier Three students
-Daily checkin in/out (with documentation) with identified students
-Monitor exit criteria for identified students
-Participation in parent services for identified students
-Other responsibilities as identified
