Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and implement a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate visual arts curriculum that aligns with the California Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Framework.
- Schedule and teach daily art classes across multiple district school sites, coordinating student exhibits and performances.
- Foster an inclusive, engaging, and collaborative classroom environment that encourages creativity, artistic expression, and student enthusiasm.
- Regularly assess student performance and adjust teaching strategies accordingly; maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Participate actively in district-wide VAPA meetings, professional development, and arts-related events.
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to ensure effective integration of arts education into the broader curriculum and district objectives.
- Provide instructional support and coaching to school sites to enhance the implementation of the District's VAPA Strategic Plan.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Valid California K-12 Single Subject Credential in Art or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with Art Supplement.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art, Art Education, or a related field required.
- English Language Learner Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent) required.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering a well-planned and developmentally appropriate art education program.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with administrators, faculty, parents, and the broader school community.
- Valid California driver's license and reliable personal transportation for district-wide travel; must maintain auto liability insurance.
- Experience integrating technology effectively within art instruction.
- Familiarity with instructional strategies for comprehensive arts education.
- Proven ability to analyze program effectiveness and adapt instructional materials accordingly.
- Physical ability and stamina to actively engage students in instructional art activities, including extended periods of standing and demonstrating artistic techniques.
- Adequate visual and auditory capabilities necessary for effective classroom instruction and management.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Doctorate degree advantageous.
- Valid California Teaching Credential with appropriate EL Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent).
- Competitive salary range: $66,593 – $121,493 annually, based on credentialing, education, and experience.
