What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025-2026 School Year - School Counselor (High School) position at School Lane Charter School - High School?
We are now accepting applications for a School Counselor for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an 11-month position (August 1 through June 30).
New employees are expected to attend New Staff Orientation on August 14th & 15th, and the week of staff professional development beginning August 18th. First day of school for students is August 25, 2025.
Essential Functions
- Provides counseling to students both individually and in a group setting to facilitate personal development, problem solving, conflict resolution skills, and social-emotional well-being
- Responsible for the assessment, evaluation, accountability, scheduling and managing the development and implementation of activities necessary for timely and effective problem solving activities including student and adult mediation
- Consults and collaborates with families, staff, community agencies and/or other school services
- Keeps detailed records of meetings and actions with students
- Collaborates with the Administrative team to develop and maintain instruction in conflict resolution and peer mediation skills for students
- Conducts classroom guidance activities based on the National School Counseling Standards
- Intervenes in crisis situations and assists in defining the crisis
- Collaborates with Administrative team for possible cases of abuse/neglect prior to contacting county agencies for assistance
Position Requirements
- BA in Education or a related field. Master’s Degree in School Counseling
- PA Department of Education School Counselor Certification
- Prior experience with International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme a plus
- Ability to positively interact with students to encourage development
- Experience in alternative conflict resolution, facilitation and mediation/peer mediation
- Supportive, empathetic, nurturing and patient personality and excellent listening skills
- Strong researching, planning, and organizational skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and interact effectively with all students, staff, parents and community organizations
- Ability to follow detailed instructions
- Excellent dependability and reliability
- Excellent attention to detail and follow through
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Experience with MS Office, GoogleDocs
