Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide instruction as an Elementary Physical Education academic teaching faculty, teaching courses in the Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program. We welcome interests from candidates with backgrounds in Physical Education (PE), Adapted Physical Education, and Health Education. Backgrounds in PE pedagogy, technology for Physical Education, cooperative learning model, and supervision in student teaching are also areas of focus for this position. Additionally, this position may provide broad teaching support in the Kinesiology Department based on teaching background/experience. The University of Wisconsin Kinesiology Department is in the School of Education, which is ranked the #1 School of Education in the U.S. Additionally, the campus is located on the shores of Lake Mendota in the vibrant City of Madison, ranked nationally as having a fantastic quality of living.

Responsibilities: Provides classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 5% Designs curriculum and/or techniques for instruction in a disciplinary area and suggests new ways of effective instruction in courses within that discipline
  • 10% Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements
  • 40% Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading
  • 25% Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties
  • 20% Serve as mentor to students by supporting their academic and professional growth. Supervise student-teaching/observation/practicum experiences. Engage in professional development with students in discipline- specific organizations

Education:

Preferred

PhD/Ed.D. (or in progress) in Physical Education or related field

Required

Master's Degree in Education or related field

Qualifications:

Minimum Of 3 Years Collegiate Teaching Experience

Demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills including engagement in inter professional, collaborative, and collegial interactions.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
