What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at School of Rock?
The General Manager (GM) runs the show from ACDC to Zappa creating a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential. We want as many kids as possible to have the opportunity to experience the magic that is School of Rock. Our GMs bring that commitment to life working with every part of the school’s community to put on epic shows through which our students learn music and life skills. The GM is the primary owner of the relationship with our students and parents.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide an exceptional music education experience for students delivering strong engagement with each child and maximizing student enrollment
- Ensure a top-quality customer service experience, including billing, schedule management, and clear and timely communication
- Build relationships in the local community, networking with local businesses, service organizations, and other educational institutions, to increase visibility, create performance opportunities, and drive business
- Hire and onboard staff members. This includes recruiting and training to ensure they are successful in their roles and contribute to the success of the school
- Oversee successful show production and management providing students with inspirational performance opportunities
- Deliver results through the management of educational and business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Manage marketing, sales and promotions to drive school and student success
- Manage staff and school facilities to ensure a safe experience for all students. This includes maintaining staff compliance with safety standards, and following protocols
- Contribute to the financial management of the school including but not limited to analyzing results, tracking budgets, and managing labor costs
- Adhere to the School of Rock Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring & Supervision policy
Skill Requirements:
- Entrepreneurial spirit and drive to grow a small business
- Passion for music and the arts - Experience with contemporary live music
- 3 years' experience in marketing, sales, and/or customer service environment
- Experience & interest in working with children (and parents) - Excellent customer service & relationship skills
- Strong experience managing artistically oriented staff along with recruiting
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic collaborator who works well across diverse populations
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership skills
- Detailed oriented with solid organizational skills
