Job Title: AES Resource Room Teacher
Location: SST Alamo
Reports to: Principal/Special Education Coordinator
Job Summary:
The AES (Academic and Emotional Support) Resource Room Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with academic and emotional needs. The teacher will develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs and work collaboratively with general education teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
- Develop and implement effective instructional strategies and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with academic and emotional challenges.
- Provide direct instruction to students in small group or one-on-one settings.
- Adapt curriculum and materials to accommodate individual learning styles and abilities.
IEP Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student.
- Monitor and assess student progress toward IEP goals and adjust instruction as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress and IEP documentation.
Behavioral Support:
- Implement and monitor behavior management plans for students with emotional and behavioral needs.
- Provide a supportive and structured environment to promote positive behavior and emotional growth.
- Work with students to develop social skills and coping strategies.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and provide accommodations and modifications as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Stay current with best practices and research in special education and emotional support.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all professional interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or special education coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience: Previous experience working with students with academic and emotional needs preferred.
- Skills: Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations, excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies, and proficiency in behavior management techniques.
Working Conditions:
