Position Overview
The Head of the Middle School is a joyful and dynamic educational leader who embodies the mission of Holy Child. The Division Head leads by example and actively cultivates an engaging and vibrant learning environment for students, faculty, and staff in grades 5 through 8. The Head of the Middle School serves as the curricular and community leader of the middle school program, which has a current enrollment of 121 students. This individual promotes excellence and the development of creative and experiential programming while also envisioning and implementing strategies for the continued growth of the Middle School division. The Division Head reports directly to the Head of School, is a member of the School’s leadership team, and serves as the anchor for the Middle School staff and faculty.
Aligned with the mission and goals of the Network of Holy Child Schools, the Head of the Middle School cares for the whole child. As a key collaborator across divisions, the Middle School Head works closely with the Head of the Upper School to ensure a cohesive and interconnected school culture. Working alongside the Student Support and Student Life Teams to address individual student needs and broader community programming, the Division Head collaborates with faculty, parents, and students to create meaningful experiences and problem-solve when challenges arise. In their care for the whole child, the Head of the Middle School values and supports Campus Ministry and Service Learning initiatives which advances Goal 1 of the Network of Holy Child Schools: “Holy Child Schools foster a faith commitment that leads to a joyous personal relationship with God in addressing the realities of the world.”

Professional Qualifications And Personal Characteristics
- Deeply committed to the mission and goals of the Network of Holy Child Schools.
- Minimum of five years of leadership experience, preferably in middle school, all-girls, Catholic, and/or independent school settings.
- Master’s degree in education, school leadership, or related field.
- Knowledgeable advocate for all-girls education and the intentional development of confident and compassionate leaders.
- Strong understanding of early adolescent development and best practices for teaching and learning. Understands and embraces the joys and challenges of the middle school years.
- Deeply values an inclusive community of belonging.
- Experience with curriculum development, faculty supervision, and student programming.
- Visible, proactive, and flexible leader.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. High comfort level with public speaking.

- Supports hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of Middle School faculty in collaboration with the Director of Professional Learning.
- Leads faculty and grade-level meetings to align programming and support.
- Oversees daily operations, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Supports advisory, arts and athletics programming for student development and well-being.
- Facilitates student conflict resolution and leadership development.
- Collaborates on and represents Holy Child and the Middle School at school events.
- Co-leads special programs, assemblies, and leadership initiatives.
- Supports the Enrollment Office by engaging with prospective families and new students, serving on the Admission Committee, and engaging with returning families during the re-enrollment process when needed.
