Job Summary:
With a focus on operational management, the Director of Photography will act as the subject matter expert in all matters of portrait photography for Portrait Pro Studios. This role will work cross functionally in support of the underclass division, with alternating business seasons.
Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations of the photography studio, ensuring it runs efficiently and effectively.
- Build staffing plan to ensure coverage for the following senior season.
- Maintain studio schedule, hire and manage studio photography staff.
- Manage equipment, including purchasing, maintenance, and repairs.
- Ensure the studio is clean, organized, and functional.
Project Management
- Manage senior photography sessions from start to completion, including planning, execution, and post-production.
- Collaborate with studio owners, photographers, and other stakeholders to ensure senior sessions meet expectations.
- Develop a training methodology that will ensure consistent and predictable quality for both experienced and entry level photographers. Develop training materials such as visual guides for posing, composition and expressions.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and motivate a team of photographers and support staff.
- Provide training, mentorship, and feedback to photographers and support staff.
- Foster a creative and collaborative work environment.
Quality Control
- Maintain high standards of image quality and consistency.
- Develop, Implement and enforce style guidelines and best practices.
- Ensure that all senior sessions meet the required standards and deadlines.
Business Development
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new clients and projects.
- Develop new “looks” based on current trends, including sets, props, backgrounds, poses, etc.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Innovation and Improvement:
- Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in photography.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows.
- Drive innovation and creativity within the studio.
