This role includes oversight at a busy community pool of a wide range of aquatic programs and services, including classes for community members, credit students, rental opportunities, lap swim, and private swim lessons. This position requires a strong focus on managing pool equipment and maintenance.
This is a part-time position with teaching and coordination hours totaling up to 29 hours per week. The pool operates for over 70 hours per week, and this role is one of three that oversees pool supervision. Supervision hours will be shared among the staff, and evenings and weekends will be required. Please note that classes are offered in the Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer, with pool shutdown periods in between. During these shutdowns, staff may be asked to work hours for tasks such as planning and scheduling, though a full 29 hours will not be required during these periods. Hours will be preset each semester.
The job duties for the on-call Aquatics Coordinator include the following:
- Recommend equipment orders and submit maintenance work orders for pool repairs.
- Ensures pool repairs are completed and works with facilities to complete a plan for future maintenance needs.
- Inventories and organizes equipment.
- Maintains class certificates and updates as needed.
- Monitor the professionalism of lifeguards and instructors.
- Fills in and updates one page pool chart and updates web schedule.
- Address student concerns and direct them with PPL when necessary.
- Assist in the first two weeks of class to address student needs.
- Act as a substitute lifeguard or instructor when needed.
- Assist with training new lifeguards and instructors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have current lifeguard certification (Red Cross preferred).
- Must obtain an LGI Certification within the first year of employment.
- Must have experience working in a busy pool setting.
$22/hour
