We are looking for a talented Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT)  for the school year.

We are currently hiring (1) part-time and (1) full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher.

Responsibilities would include :

  • Provide specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) in one-on-one, small group, and inclusive classroom settings.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans to support student learning and communication needs.
  • Use American Sign Language (ASL), cued speech, auditory-verbal therapy, and other communication methods based on student needs.
  • Adapt curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional strategies to ensure accessibility for DHH students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and special education staff to support student success.
  • Teach students self-advocacy, communication strategies, and independent living skills.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting interventions and strategies as needed.
  • Provide training and consultation to teachers and staff on accommodations, assistive listening devices, and classroom accessibility.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and IDEA regulations.
  • Stay up to date with best practices and technology for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Oregon Teaching License with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Endorsement (issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission – TSPC).
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred.
  • Experience with assistive listening devices (e.g., FM systems, cochlear implants, hearing aids) preferred.
  • Fingerprint Clearance & Background Check required.
