Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Operations Manager to join our team. This leadership role is essential for ensuring the museum operates efficiently and provides exceptional visitor experiences. The Operations Manager will oversee visitor services, the gift shop, birthday parties, exhibits, and facilities, while also assisting with fundraising events and collaborating across departments. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Education Department to support the museum’s mission and goals. This position requires availability to work at least two weekends per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage visitor services, the gift shop, birthday parties, and exhibit areas to ensure a positive experience for all guests.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the museum, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations of team members.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on planning and executing fundraising events.
- Partner with the Education Department to coordinate the sale of classes and ensure alignment with the museum’s mission.
- Monitor and maintain exhibits and facilities, ensuring they are safe, functional, and engaging for visitors.
- Assist in budget preparation and management for operational areas.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain high standards of service and safety.
- Address visitor inquiries and concerns to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with other departments, including Marketing and Development, to ensure effective communication and operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 3 years of experience in operations management, guest services, or a related field, preferably in a museum, educational, or hospitality setting.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising diverse teams.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in budget management and operational planning.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with event planning and coordination is a plus.
- Availability to work at least two weekends per month.
