About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Technician III (Ed Tech III) to join our Special Education team. This role supports students with special needs by providing instructional, behavioral, and technological assistance under the direction of the Director of Special Education, Assistant Director, Building Principal, and / or supervising teacher .
Responsibilities Instructional Support
Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce learning and support student progress.
Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) as directed by teachers.
Introduce pre-planned learning activities in collaboration with classroom teachers.
Support students in community-based programs and classroom settings .
Use educational technology to document and enhance student learning.
Behavioral & Supervisory Support
Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment .
Participate in therapeutic restraint training if required.
Supervise students during field trips, cafeteria time, and other school activities .
Maintain confidentiality of student records, assessments, and performance.
Collaboration & Professional Development
Regularly meet with classroom teachers to receive guidance.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training .
Attend IEP meetings as requested by the Director of Special Education.
Additional Duties
Independently accompany students off-campus under teacher supervision.
Perform non-instructional duties similar to other staff members in comparable roles.
Carry out other related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
A minimum of 90 credit hours of approved study in an educationally related field.
Educational Technician III Authorization from the Maine Department of Education (or eligibility to obtain).
Ability to pass a background check, fingerprinting, and reference verification .
Prior experience working with school-age children (preferred).
Willingness and physical ability to participate in therapeutic restraint training.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
Comfortable using computers and educational technology to support learning.
