English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher

Job Overview:
As an ESL Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students whose native or primary language is not English. Your responsibility will be to design and deliver tailored instruction to help students acquire spoken and written English skills while integrating cultural and academic success strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students' English proficiency levels.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Monitor and assess students’ progress, adjusting instructional methods as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide inclusive and effective learning environments.
- Communicate with families regarding student progress and resources for language development.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required by the Maine Department of Education.
- Promote multicultural understanding and inclusion.
Qualifications:
- Maine Department of Education 660 English-Second Language (K-12) Endorsement (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Previous experience teaching ESL to K-12 students (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of ESL instructional strategies, language acquisition, and assessments.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Salary: $54,895 - $58,026 per year (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
