Position Summary
We are seeking excellent candidates for the role of Elementary School Music Facultyserving students in Grades K-3. Candidates should be compelling educational practitioners who are confident in their capacity to create and deliver a dynamic, engaging and challenging curriculum to students. In addition to their teaching assignments, all teaching faculty are expected to contribute to the life of the school community in general. Schools of the Sacred Heart is committed to an in-person teaching model and faculty must be prepared to adhere to and support our Health and Safety Plan.
Purpose : The primary purpose of the Music Teacher is to maximize the learning potential through music in every student in your care, grades K-3.

Duties / Responsibilities :

To be considered candidates should submit a resume and cover letter displaying their qualifications in the following areas :
BME / BM / BA degree in music performance and / or music education. Masters degree and / or valid CA Teaching Credential is strongly preferred.At least two years of previous classroom music teaching experience with an emphasis on lower school music, student-teaching can count towards this.Excellent writing, communication, and grammar skills.Experience in Orff-Schulwerk methodology or Kodaly- including solfege, hand signs, and rhythm games.Teaching music literacy through aural skills, notation, and music audiation.Comfortable teaching music to students in large public forums including around adults.Ability to sing with a solid technique and play an accompanying instrument at a proficient level- either guitar or piano.Knowledgeable about vocal pedagogical needs for the young, developing, and unchanged voice and the ability to teach age appropriate vocal repertoire.Prepare students for public performances that include singing and / or use of xylophones and boomwhackers.Ability to vary teaching instruction using media, movement and music games.Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning profiles.Innovative, creative, and flexible teaching style.Understanding the developmental needs of students and how they learn best.Requires demonstrated and direct experience using a wide range of instructional technology tools including iPads, laptops, and Google Apps.Must be detail-oriented, organized and willing to take initiative.Must have excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work well with students and adults.Must be a role model and maintain a high level of professionalism.Experience with independent schools is strongly preferred.Physical Requirements
