Inventory and Retail Shipping Supervisor

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Inventory and Shipping Supervisor to oversee our retail plant inventory and retail shipping operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that all plants and products are shipped efficiently and accurately while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory, logistics and warehouse management, along with excellent team management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily shipping operations, ensuring timely and accurate dispatch of goods.
• Manage a team of shipping personnel, providing guidance and support to enhance productivity.
• Oversee inventory management and control processes to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards within the shipping area.
• Coordinate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to streamline shipping processes.
• Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations
• Monitor materials handling procedures to minimize damage and loss during transit.
• Utilize warehouse management systems, including Fishbowl Inventory and Shipstation, for tracking shipments and inventory levels.
• Conduct regular training sessions for staff on best practices in shipping and safety protocols.
• Prepare reports on shipping metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
• Negotiate shipping rates and manage relationships with logistics providers.
• Analyze shipping costs, identify areas for improvement, and implement cost-saving measures.
• Generate and analyze reports on shipping metrics (deliveries, accuracy, and cost per shipments).
• Monitor plant growth throughout the year and forecast demand identifying potential stock discrepancies.
• Maintain label inventory, and work with office staff on getting orders placed each year.
• Maintain inventory for and do purchasing for all materials required for shipping
• Work with Agricultural Operations Manager to create dig sheets through fishbowl for wholesale digging and fulfillment.
• Reports on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to upper management.
• Maintain inventory for all planted iris, daylilies, and other plants in fields, greenhouses, as well as the display gardens
• Manage the team of employees that make up the retail packing shed including the labeling, cutting, pulling, packing, and shipping crews.
• Work with field digging managers to ensure everyone is aligned on quality standards.
• Drive the fields on an as needed basis during and outside of fulfillment season to ensure that the inventory for plants for retail and wholesale orders remains accurate. Adjust inventory as needed to maximize sales potential.

Experience

• Proven experience in logistics or warehouse management, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of materials handling techniques and inventory control practices.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to warehouse operations.
• Experience managing teams effectively, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Proficiency in using warehouse management systems; experience with Fishbowl, Shopify and/or Shipstation is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficient in Excel including V-Look up, Pivot Tables, IF Functions, Trim Function

Hours

• The hours for this position vary depending on the time of the year. July-September is high season where up to 55 hours per week is necessary. Outside of peek season the days are generally Monday through Friday will range from 32-40 hours per week depending on the need. Saturdays are required during peak season and sometimes during the off season depending on the need.

Benefits

Pay range $26-$30/Hour based on experience

80 hours vacation pay per year to be used between November 1 and March 1

40 hours sick pay per year

16 hours of paid personal time per year
