Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Instructor of Aviation Studies to join our faculty team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of aviation courses, developing and maintaining curriculum, and contributing to the growth and development of our aviation program.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a range of aviation courses, including ground school, flight training, and aviation management
- Develop and maintain curriculum for aviation courses, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and industry standards
- Provide instruction and guidance to students in the aviation program, including advising and mentoring
- Participate in the development and implementation of the aviation program’s strategic plan
- Collaborate with other faculty members and industry partners to promote the aviation program and develop new opportunities
- Maintain a safe and effective learning environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations
- Stay current with industry developments and advancements, incorporating these into the curriculum and instruction
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or a related field to comport with accreditation standards with the Southern Association of College and Schools: Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC).
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-Engine and Instrument ratings
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Instrument Flight Instructor (CFII) certifications and/or Certified Ground Instructor with Advanced and Instrument ratings
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a flight or ground instructor or in a related field
- Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, weather, navigation, aircraft systems, and other relevant topics
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and industry partners
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with online learning platforms and instructional technologies
- Instructor experience
- Familiarity with FAA regulations and industry standards
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment
