Summary Of Responsibilities
This position will support the Director of the Schreiner Institute with tasks related to the overall success of the Schreiner Institute. In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing, developing, recruiting, mentoring, retaining, and programming of both the competitive components and leadership programming of the Schreiner Institute. Responsibilities require a great deal of interaction with students, faculty, university staff, as well as occasional interaction with members of the Board of Trustees, alumni, donors, and the community. This position also performs clerical and administrative support activities, including typing, filing, operating office equipment, preparing and entering documents into electronic and manual records, using computer hardware and software, producing reports, compiling data, organizing resource materials, submitting work orders, database entry, budget tracking, providing general and specific information, directions, referrals, developing schedules and setting up appointments, mailings, and coordinating clerical and administrative activities and processes.

Essential Functions
- Meet with prospective Schreiner Institute students on campus or virtually to answer questions to assist with recruitment efforts.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students participating in the competitive or leadership development components within the Schreiner Institute.
- Organize cross-institutional and inter-community individuals and agencies to provide general and specific resources to Schreiner Institute students to promote their educational success.
- Develop and submit proposed competition schedules for final approval in accordance with scheduling requirements.
- Serve as the primary sponsor and traveling staff member for competitions related to Schreiner Institutes competitive programming.
- Facilitate growth of the competitive student population within Schreiner Institute through recruitment and retention efforts.
- Organize regular practices for students competing for the Schreiner Institute.
- Establish and publish regular hours.
- As necessary, coordinator will bring in resources from elsewhere to support the competitive students in their respective craft.
- Serve as the primary sponsor for the Mountaineer Leadership Academy within the Schreiner Institute which will include periodic traveling for related programming.
- Supervision and coordination of the department's student workforce.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming communications as needed.
- Prepares routine correspondence, form letters, reports, requisitions, lists, and tables using standardized forms.
- Develop and implement programming associated with the Mountaineer Leadership Academy for the overall development of student leadership capabilities throughout the course of their 4-year experience at Schreiner.
- Develop and implement programming associated with the Schreiner University Rifle Team to ensure the rifle team can compete and remain in compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to the sport.
- Develop and implement programming associated with the Speech and Debate team to ensure students are afforded an opportunity to develop the skills needed to competitively compete in a minimum of 4 Speech and Debate tournaments throughout the academic year.
- Maintain diplomatic, confidential, helpful, friendly, and professional relationships with constituents, administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Create and run basic queries and reports in the Jenzabar databases.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of special events, including the scheduling of rooms and equipment.
- Enter Purchase Order Requisitions in Jenzabar.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Contribute to Schreiner Institute efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Acts to facilitate good communications between employees, clients, and management through interpersonal and professional communication techniques.
- Maintain University safety rules.
- Must have a current valid Texas driver's license, related insurance, and good driving record.
- 1 years of pertinent work experience.
- Master's Degree preferred, not required.
- Proven track record of strong leadership capabilities.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically, Word, Excel and Publisher; and experience in high volume calendar and message management using Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge and proficiency in use of general office equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and exercise good judgment.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in an organized manner with proper follow-through including ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
