The Test Engineer I position is a hands on position that performs high level testing and provides engineering input for current and new products and customer/application specific projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs various laboratory assignments primarily involving hydraulic test stands but also including electrical applications, electronics, instrumentation, and calibrations.
- Develops testing procedures to replicate real world applications within the Fluid Care Center.
- Maintains a strong understanding of product testing and product performance specifications, this individual provides value-added input such as observations and feedback during new and existing product testing, working closely with Engineering.
- May assist in the development of new products for commercial launch, from concept through design, testing, and introduction. Supports new products after commercial introduction. Evaluates, improves, and certifies for production any new products. Such efforts would include, but are not limited to, the creation and/or design review of the following documents; SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), assembly drawings, element construction drawings, detail machining drawings, BOM’s (Bill of Material), assembly drawings, technical manuals, etc.
- Provides engineering support for the design of new products or the modification of established products in response to company or customer requirements within the guidelines of the Company policy, cost effectiveness, manufacturability, product safety and liability, accepted engineering practices, applicable standards or regulations, and within the time constraints established by the FCC Supervisor.
- Assists in the design of new tooling, fixtures, test equipment and prototype components as necessary.
- Conducts and runs various tests associated with fluid analysis, including particle counting, viscosity measurement, Karl Fischer Titration, patch testing & microscopic analysis.
- Understands and is able to conduct multi-pass testing per ISO 16889.
- Performs or assists in client tours/training/troubleshooting within the lab or at a client’s facility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required; BSME, BSIE, BSc or BSEE is required.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Solid Works or equivalent computer aided drafting system is required.
- Experience in fluid power industry and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of product design, project management, and hydraulic/electrical schematics as applied to fluid power is preferred.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent knowledge of ERP software, spreadsheet software and word processing software; SAP experience is a plus.
- Has an understanding of, or willingness to learn data acquisition software and systems (LabView or similar) and is able to use the software with existing test equipment.
Certificates and Licenses
- Fluid Power Specialist Certification is required within eighteen months of employment.
Other Requirements
- Travel, including driving, is required, including occasional travel to domestic and international locations.
