What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Dental Assistant position at Schroepfer Family Dental?

- Assisting the dentist during treatment procedures
- Taking radiographs and intra-oral photos
- Reviews medical and dental history
- Serves as an infection control officer, sterilizes instruments, disinfects operatories
- Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment.
- Provides patients with post-operative instructions following dental treatment
- Educates patients on appropriate oral home care and products
- Takes impressions for dental treatment, pours and trims models as needed
- Performs front desk tasks as needed
- Communicates effectively with patients, fellow employees, and suppliers
- Helps refer patients to specialty dental offices as needed
- Organizes and stocks operatory, sterilization, and lab as needed for efficiency
- Greet patients in waiting room and seat patient in operatory
- Monitor patient on nitrous oxide
- Clean and lubricate headpieces
- Empty garbages when full
- Orders dental supplies once okayed with dentist
- Fill out lab slips for lab work to be sent out
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to first appointment
- Set up operatories with all necessary supplies before seating patient
- Make sure correct services are entered into the computer before setting patient complete
- Professional hand off patient to business assistant, after procedures are completed
- Apply topical anesthesia to numbing area
- Make temporary crown, try-in, and adjust occlusion as needed
- Work in an extremely face paced work environment and pick up the pace when behind
- Talk to parents about child’s procedure(s), give them proper instructions and answer any questions they may have in privacy
- Explain to the patient what procedure(s) they are going to have done before Dr. comes into the operatory, answer any questions, and assure them they are going to be taken good care of
- Wear the proper uniform attire e.g. scrubs, closed toe shoes, gloves, mask & protective eye wear needed for OSHA compliance.
- Responsible for own operatory maintenance
