What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Cutter position at Schuette's Market?
A Meat Cutter is responsible for working closely with the Store Manager, Fresh Foods General Manager, and Meat Department Manager to ensure the success of the store & department through excellent customer service and a demonstrated passion for food. The Meat Cutter will actively engage and educate customers about our meat and seafood products. The Meat Cutter will demonstrate a high level of integrity with department products, with department employees and our customers. A respect for detail by the Meat Cutter will ensure that we remain focused on creating a wonderful experience for our customers.
All positions within our company (including Meat Cutters) are required to execute their daily job responsibilities and focus on providing fantastic customer service. We expect each employee to maintain a positive attitude and a willingness to be a team player.
Job Duties:
* Prepare all cuts of meat (beef, pork & poultry products).
* Prepare specialty merchandise (e.g., sausage & ready to cook products).
* Open and close department as assigned. (Weekend, holiday and evening work will be required.)
* Follow established Weights and Measures procedures (TARES).
* Provide excellent customer service.
* Understand and perform basic Team Leader functions in their absence.
* Order and receive merchandise.
* Rotate stock properly.
* Clean all equipment & tools.
* Train others as directed.
* Perform other duties, as assigned.
* Previous experience as a skilled meat cutter (beef, poultry, pork & seafood).
* Basic knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques.
* Demonstrated ability in knife handling, other cutting equipment and safety procedures.
* Excellent people & leadership skills. Must be able to communicate with customers and co-workers in a friendly, efficient manner.
* Basic math skills for ordering & inventory.
* Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
* Ability to multi-task and demonstrated organizational skills.
* Must be highly motivated with a sense of urgency and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment at all times with all levels of employees.
* Ability to operate bailer (must be 18 years old).
* Ability to cut, merchandise and display products.
* Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb throughout the entire work day and the ability to lift, stack and maneuver objects.
