Truck Dispatcher

Schulz Transportation Services of Lincoln, Nebraska seeks an experienced truck dispatcher. Great salary and full benefits. Day shift with rotating on call after hours.

We are a refrigerated trucking company with 75 trucks hauling meat from the Midwest to the West Coast and produce back. We are seeking a team player to join our dispatch team. The position requires heavy contact with customers and over-the-road truck drivers via telephone and email. This position is full time in the office 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday, rotating Saturdays 8am – 12noon, and some on call after hours.

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, solve problems independently, have a high level of attention to detail, and manage the demands of competing priorities. Duties:

• Finds brokered loads to match the number of loads with the number of trucks in a geographic area.
• Accepts loads, reviews contracts, and monitors EDI load systems.
• Accurately input load information into computer systems.
• Effectively plan loads and communicate with drivers and customers to ensure all loads are assigned to maximize driver productivity, loads are delivered on time, and problems and complaints are resolved.
• Plan and assign loads to drivers based on available driver hours, home time requests, driver productivity, and company profitability.
• Communicate with drivers on load assignments, loading and unloading issues, and weather and road delays.
• Make appointments for pick-up and delivery times with customers.
• Track all loads and communicate with customers to resolve all loading and unloading issues.
• Review rate sheets and send copies of requested documents within the prescribed time frames.
• Investigate lost, damaged or shortage of merchandise to determine responsibility.
• Treat every driver with honesty and respect to foster positive relationships and reduce driver turnover.
• Maintain a regular and predictable attendance Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and rotating Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12 noon.
• Available to be on call on a rotating schedule on weeknights and weekends.

• Background in trucking and compliance with government transportation regulations.

Requirements:

• Must have prior over-the-road dispatch experience at a trucking company
• Knowledge of shipping and truck transport.
• Customer service experience.
• Ability to operate a computer, supporting software, fax machine, copier, and printer.
• High school diploma or equivalent mandatory
