Description :

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to their destinations efficiently. This role is pivotal in creating value by improving service levels, optimizing freight costs, and enhancing cost avoidance around import / export issues.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the logistics team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
  • Oversee critical inventory, distribution, and transportation operations to support the achievement of organizational goals and KPIs for product delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with various teams, including procurement, sales, finance, and customs brokers.
  • Select vendors, negotiate rates and service levels, and monitor performance to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations governing the transportation of goods.
  • Utilize analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify operational deficiencies, and achieve high performance at optimal cost.
  • Manage the import / export process, ensuring compliance with all required government laws and licensing regulations.
  • Manage freight forwarders and / or carriers to ensure the company receives the best cost and service.
  • Maintain in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of customs rules, regulations, and other related requirements for global shipping.
  • Resolve complex issues that have been escalated and expedite solutions with clients, customs officials, and shippers.
  • Foster a culture consistent with Schumacher’s purpose, core values and strategic anchors.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of international trade laws, customs regulations, and trade agreements.
  • Familiarity with customs procedures and documentation requirements for various countries.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis.
  • Experience shipping lithium products is a plus.
  • Qualifications

  • Education : bachelor’s degree in international trade, supply chain management, business, or a related field.
  • Experience : 5 years’ proven experience in import / export logistics management, including experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Internal applicants : 6 months successful demonstration of current position responsibilities, approval from current manager, and a relevant combination of education, continuing education, and experience.
  • Candidates who do not meet the specified educational or experience requirements but possess equivalent qualifications and relevant experience may be considered for this position. The company will assess candidates on a case-by-case basis to determine their suitability for the role based on their overall qualifications, skills, and demonstrated capabilities.
