SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and/or rebuilds all plant equipment as deemed necessary. This is a 2nd shift Monday-Friday position, flexible to work off-shift and weekends when deemed necessary. This position starts at an hourly rate of $25-$28 per hour, plus $1.00/hour shift premium. The hourly rate for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Training for this role will be on 1st shift for approximately 2 – 4 weeks. This position will require covering for other production roles during periods of vacation or unexpected absences to ensure continuity of operations.

- $0.60 per hour safety and attendance bonus, paid out monthly

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety requirements
- Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild equipment in department which includes but is not limited to: balers, conveyors, shredders, and grinders
- Repair and maintain equipment as it relates to electrical, mechanical and hydraulics by methods such as: welding, fabricating, torching and painting, etc.
- Work with the Operations Manager and/or designee to design, modify, or change equipment to work for specific functions
- Ensure all Monthly Preventative Maintenance is performed in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations, ISO quality procedures and work instructions
- Provide coverage for absent team members and operate additional equipment as needed, which includes forklifts, skid steers and excavators
- Ability to enter product information at computer workstations
- Use required PPE protective equipment as required which includes, but is not limited to, proper ear, eye, hand and face protection
- Comply with all lockout/tagout procedures
- Perform general and scheduled maintenance on all equipment within the plant
- Wash down equipment as deemed necessary, cleaning out all balers, chambers and hoppers
- Inventory and track all parts for in-house equipment and company tools
- Train others as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School or G.E.D. required
- 3 – 5 years of related experience with solid work history
- Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic background
- Ability to become certified to operate a forklift, skid steer and excavator
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Technical education or training beyond high school
- PLC and robotics experience
- Knowledge of recycling equipment
- Welding and torching experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Constantly move about to accomplish tasks or move between worksites
- Occasionally move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires manual dexterity, coordination and stamina
- Occasionally lift, move, or position objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Vision requirements include corrected/uncorrected distant and near vision, depth perception, and ability to distinguish between colors
- Regularly works around moving mechanical parts
- Climb ladders and stairs to access equipment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet conditions, extreme cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes.
