What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telecom Lineman position at Schupp's Line Construction?
The Telecom Lineman is tasked with placing fiber optic cable and associated equipment in Buildings, Aerial, Buried, and Underground environments. This work will be performed in all weather conditions. Lineman will also coordinate and schedule traffic control for the job they have been assigned and will also act as a Groundman and Flagger on their job site. Other responsibilities will include accurately reading prints, building new strand and fiber, lashing fiber to strand by using bucket trucks and climbing utility poles. This role will require traveling within NYS. Option to join 1249 Union. Other duties are:
-Perform construction work including but not limited to digging holes, pole climbing, ladders on poles, placing and removing the cable,
stringing wire/cable from pole to pole, and laying cable and conduit in the ground.
-Understand the full scope of the project and all aspects of OSP construction.
-Operate power equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, hydraulic diggers, and hydraulic aerial lifts mounted on trucks.
- Use of test equipment to check for gas in manholes; may be required to empty water and other debris from manholes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.66 - $38.73 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
