Schuster Concrete is seeking to hire a Concrete Quality Control Manager.
Objective:
Oversee all aspects of the product quality program including technical support for customers, troubleshooting product performance issues, mix design management, and employee development. Provide support to management, sales, and operations to achieve business objectives.
Responsibilities / Job Duties:
Safety:
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Ensure all aspects of quality control are executed in a safe manner. Obey safety guidelines when on construction sites and Schuster operations.
Quality Control and Quality Assurance:
- Responsible for the design and performance of all concrete mixes.
- Support plants in daily mix changes as needed. (i.e. air dosage rate changes)
- Manage program for internal testing and evaluation of mix performance.
- Manage daily activities of field technicians and ensure project oversight as needed.
- Lead product performance troubleshooting. (low strength, hardened concrete issues, etc.)
- Track the results and business impact of product performance liability.
- Manage requirements of ACI, ASTM, and MD SHA where required.
- Review concrete specifications to ensure mix design compliance if required.
- Communicate quality control information to all relevant Schuster personnel.
- Monitor, benchmark and target improvement in product performance.
- Provide professional support to customers and Schuster employees in all areas that require technical solutions. Coaching & Mentoring:
- Provide product technical training for sales, operations, and dispatch employees to support personal development. Association Involvement:
- Participate in industry associations as a representative of Schuster. Promote Schuster’s interests and communicate in a manner which upholds Schuster as a good industry partner.
Relationships with Others:
- Reports to the General Manager.
- Works closely with sales, operations, and dispatch personnel.
- Works closely with customers.
Qualification Profile:
Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Previous related industry experience, preferably in Quality Control or Quality Assurance.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Solid knowledge of ACI and ASTM standards for concrete and concrete materials.
- Demonstrable skill in managing, motivating and communicating with persons involved in scientific, engineering and construction activities.
Personnel in this position must be even tempered and maintain a professional attitude at all times. Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers. Must be flexible and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
Excellent leadership skills - must be able to motivate others and provide complete, direct, and actionable feedback. Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions
- The ability to effectively use computer software (Excel, Word, Sheets, etc.) to organize and schedule work, to collect and analyze data and to present reports.
Individual must be able to perform the physical demands of concrete and materials testing.
