What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at Schuyler Bakery?
We are looking for a Baker to prepare different types of breads and pastries, such as donuts, cookies, cakes, danish and pies. Baker responsibilities include mixing dough, proofing and baking items, preparing fillings and glazing pastries. To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Baker, or in a similar role. Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
- Bake different bread and pastry types
- Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
- Mix various ingredients to create fillings (e.g. chocolate fudge, vanilla custard and fruits)
- Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including donuts, danishes, cookies and cinnamon buns
- Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers
- Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
- Must be able to lift 50lbs regularly
Skills
- Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
- Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
Hours are Mon-Fri 4pm-Close (roughly midnight)
