VACANCY: At the present time, there is one full-time (35 hours/week) opening in the Schuyler County Public Health Department. The person hired will need to take a Civil Service Training and Experience exam at a later date and be reachable on the list to gain permanency in the position.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a State of New York license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and possess a Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
- Must also possess a valid New York State driver’s license. Note: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
- If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- The work involves responsibility for performing public health nursing duties in the County Health Department. The duties include assessment of health care needs of patients, development and implementation of nursing care plans and the conduct of community health intervention programs, such as immunizations, health clinics and health education.
- Nursing activities include, but are not limited to, systematic analysis of health data, plan development, health education and advocacy, coalition building and collaborating with community partners to promote the health of the population.
- The work is performed under the general supervision of a Deputy Public Health Director or Public Health Director with a wide leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment in carrying out work assignments. Does related work as required.
