Anticipated Special Education Administrative Assistant
Qualifications:

Essential Responsibilities:
· Provide assistance to the Director of Special Education.
Responsibilities:
· Maintain daily incoming and outgoing mail for the Director of Special Education.
· Maintain schedule for the Director of Special Education.
· Respond to telephone inquiries, incoming mail, and public walk-ins for the Director of Special Education.
· Facilitate personal correspondence, contracts, board items, requisitions, purchase orders, room bookings as per the Director of Special Education.
· Maintain inventory of office supplies for the Director of Special Education
· Coordinate materials for meetings and training sessions as per the Director of Special Education.
· Re-type correspondence including (documents, contracts, letters, etc.) for the Special Education Director and staff.
· Compile data for billings between IU29 and other contracted educational agencies (Catapult, Bloomsburg University), and school districts including out-of-county students.
· Type, edit and transmit all reports, letters and associated activities required by school districts, Intermediate Unit and State Department of Education.
· Transmit all psychological reports prepared for all school-aged persons in school districts within the Intermediate Unit.
· Respond to and prepare all reports, letters and prescribed activities of the Program Supervisors located within the Exceptional Children’s Program.
· Monitor and maintain the necessary security required for student records as described in the Policies and Procedures for the Special Education Program.
· Possess current awareness of the guidelines, policies and contracted agreements for non-professional persons as prepared by the Intermediate Unit.
· Be responsible for the typing and editing of materials, letters and reports developed and approved by the Program Supervisors of the Exceptional Children’s Program.
· Be aware of structure and operation, office policy and job descriptions described in Policies for the Exceptional Children’s Program.
· Comply with job responsibilities set forth for in the Exceptional Children’s Program.
· Enter, maintain, and retrieve all critical information and data on all school-aged pupils maintained by the Exceptional Children’s Program.
· Other duties as instructed by the Director of Special Education.

Method of Evaluation:
· The Special Education Secretary shall be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Education in accordance with the educational support personnel collective bargaining agreement.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None
Terms of Employment:
· Employment shall be twelve (12) months per year. Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the educational support personnel collective bargaining agreement.
- Position works 1,800 hours a year.
- Position gets 10 paid holidays, vacation, sick and personal time off.
