Schwab Gasparini (SG) is a NY based law firm with offices in Westchester County, the Hudson Valley, Albany and Syracuse which is currently seeking an associate to work in its Hudson Valley office. SG is an award-winning boutique law firm started in 2007, whose founding partners trained at larger NY law firms. The firm practices primarily in the area of insurance defense litigation, medical malpractice defense litigation, employment discrimination litigation, commercial litigation and general defense litigation. Currently SG has 14 attorneys and a staff of 30.

You will work closely with partners and senior attorneys to provide legal counsel and services, be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and dynamic thriving in a fast-paced legal environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Manage a caseload of medical malpractice defense matters from inception to resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support case strategy and provide informed recommendations to senior attorneys.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates, answer inquiries, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Court Appearances: Represent clients in court proceedings, including attending hearings, depositions, and trials as required.
- Negotiation: Engage in settlement negotiations and mediations to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Document Review: Review and analyze documents, contracts, policies, and other legal materials relevant to the cases.
- Legal Strategy: Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys to develop and execute effective legal strategies.
- Compliance: Stay current with changes in laws and regulations related to insurance defense and ensure compliance with all legal standards.
Job Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited Law School.
- Admission to the New York State Bar and good standing.
- 1-4 years of experience in medical malpractice defense litigation.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Proven track record for managing cases effectively and meeting deadlines.
