Schwartz Farms, Inc. was founded in 1978 and at the time was predominantly involved in crop farming. Although Schwartz Farms is still involved in farming, today's primary operations are within the pork industry. Schwartz Farms, Inc. employs over 550 full-time individuals, and owns sows in the upper Midwest, predominantly in Minnesota, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska. WHAT DOES A WEAN-FINISH TECHNICIAN DO?
As a Wean-Finish technician, you will be responsible for performing production tasks in various company-owned and/or -operated wean-finish sites to optimize animal care, health and efficiencies, in a manner which upholds SFI standards related to animals, equipment and facilities.
Your day will begin early, ensuring attention to detail in feeding schedules, health assessments, and monitoring the growth of wean, feeder and market pigs. You'll maintain clean facilities, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for the animals. Collaborate closely with your team members and Supervisor to implement best practices in animal husbandry and address any health concerns promptly.
Your schedule is Monday to Friday, with a weekend and holiday rotations to provide consistent care to our animals. Embrace the variety and excitement that comes with each day, as you learn and adapt to the dynamic needs of our livestock, all while fostering a culture of respect and teamwork.
