Schwartz Farms, Inc. was founded in 1978 and at the time was predominantly involved in crop farming. Although Schwartz Farms is still involved in farming, today's primary operations are within the pork industry. Schwartz Farms, Inc. employs over 550 full-time individuals, and owns sows in the upper Midwest, predominantly in Minnesota, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska. POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:
As a vital team member of SFI's wean-finish department, the Power Wash Specialist is responsible for supporting animal health by ensuring sanitized and bio secure production facilities and vehicles/trailers used to transport power washer and supplies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate with the Manager of Repair and Maintenance on a weekly basis regarding the scheduling and planning of sanitization needs for the following week
- Maintain established schedule and provide feedback to improve schedule efficiency
- Operate pressure washer machinery and use approved cleaning supplies to clean and sanitize facilities in a safe and effective manner
- Ensure an adequate inventory of cleaning and safety supplies, as well as fuel
- Report to supervisor any conditions or equipment within the barn that are unsafe, would hinder timely cleaning, or require repair
- Ensure a safe working environment and never enter or perform tasks within a production facility that does not have proper air movement; immediately report such conditions to supervisor
- Use personal protective equipment while operating power washer, including but not limited to hearing and eye protection; wear safety shield over eyes and face while power washing, and wear safety glasses while using disinfectant(s)
- Collaborate with safety department and your supervisor to ensure the latest protective equipment is used to optimize safety and comfort, reporting any unsafe conditions you may encounter
- To minimize downtime, ensure the proper upkeep of power washing equipment, trailers, and vehicles, including general maintenance of power washer, checking oil daily before use, checking water filter weekly, proper shut down and storage at the end of each shift, etc.
- Arrange for repairs and service to equipment and rolling stock, as required
- Maintain washing and sanitation equipment and supplies including rolling stock used to deliver necessary equipment and sanitation supplies to the various facilities
- Make recommendations to your supervisor regarding equipment and/or methods that would enhance and improve cleaning procedures
- Travel to and between facilities
