Venture Logistics, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Systems Engineer in Indianapolis, IN! The Director & Corporate Counsel is responsible for providing wide-ranging legal services to the Venture Transportation Group of companies, including the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts; advising on laws and regulations applicable to VTP’s businesses, including but not limited to DOT regulations; managing the VTP real estate portfolio; and supporting the Schwarz Partners, L.P. in-house legal team. The Corporate Counsel is expected to provide prompt, precise, and practical legal advice to executives and managers.Essential Job Duties : Draft, review, analyze and revise commercial contracts across the VTP group of companies. Create, disseminate, and train commercial colleagues how to use form contracts intended to streamline and expedite the contract creation and review process.Advise VTP executives and managers concerning laws and regulations specific to the transportation, brokerage, and logistics industries.Manage all aspects of VTP’s real estate portfolio, including managing real estate acquisitions, sales, and leases under the supervision of the Schwarz Partners, L.P. in-house legal team.Support the Schwarz Partners, L.P. in-house legal team, including support for VTP litigation matters, overflow work stemming from mergers and acquisitions, and other tasks as requested.Identify and implement strategies to reduce outside legal spend and other external costs.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Ability to work independently, as well as demonstrate commercial awareness and sound business judgment.Excellent attention to detail; ability to organize and prioritize competing demands from various businesses.High sense of urgency and drive to provide exceptional client service.Regular and predictable attendance in the Indianapolis office.Additional duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience : Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana.At least 5 years of combined experience practicing in a law firm or in-house environment.Preferred Education and Experience : Knowledge of and experience with transportation, brokerage and logistics industries.Knowledge of and experience with Department of Transportation regulations.Knowledge of and experience with real estate contracts and issues.Knowledge of and experience with the types of litigation and insurance claims commonly seen by transportation and logistics companies.Required Skills and Abilities : Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Work Environment : Office setting.
