Schwarze's Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the supply chain from sourcing through delivery of products to facilities. The Purchasing Manager Will
- Responsible for the management of all suppliers, which includes routine audits/reviews, negotiations, compliance, and quality control.
- Evaluate and monitor supplier performance and contract compliance to determine necessity for amendments and/or suitability of extension, which may require coordination with Alamo Group Supply Chain.
- Work with Design Engineering and Product Management to ensure alternate suppliers/materials are sourced in a timely and cost-effective manner without sacrificing quality.
- Create, sustain, and update supply chain processes to maximize efficiency and performance.
- Lead activities to maintain purchased part item setups in ERP/MRP to ensure accurate costing, supplier pricing, lead times, and other data driving MRP accuracy.
- Support the ECR/ECN process to ensure accurate costing of purchase parts through sourcing and provides strategic scheduling/planning advice for material changes implemented in the production schedule.
- Work closely and strategically with Alamo Group Supply Chain on Corporate and Group purchasing initiatives.
- Work with OPEX team to continuously improve efficiencies on the production line related to consumables, on time delivery, and supplier quality.
- Work with Sales Operations on long term forecasting in order to optimize material planning.
- Be accountable for optimizing inventory levels, turns, and on time delivery to production.
- Knowledge of available sources of purchased components such as truck chassis, industrial engines, hydraulic components, and metals for fabrication.
- Experience with high complexity, low flow production and products a plus.
- Knowledge of ERP/MPR systems, pertinent programs and data retrieval.
- Analytical and evaluation skills to review historical data, indices and market trends.
- Strong knowledge of MRP systems with JD Edwards background a plus.
- Knowledge of ISO procedures and auditing practices.
- Able to coordinate and plan various activities and prioritize own work, and/or work of subordinates.
- Knowledge and understanding of production fabrication, welding, paint, mechanical assembly, warehouse, and related processes.
- Experience with developing programs to address issues involving productivity, cost improvements, and quality.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills both verbally and written.
- Good team building skills; able to problem solve, persuade, and motivate.
- Knowledge and practical application of Lean manufacturing techniques.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and a strong practitioner of building a safety culture.
- Self-driven with strong collaborative skills.

- Five plus years experience sourcing in medium-to-heavy manufacturing, agricultural and/or industrial environment required
