The Director of Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) is part of the hospital clinical services team and assists with the organization, direction, management, and evaluation of patient care services for the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Services. The Director is responsible for process improvement activities and reporting of key performance indicators.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the clinical, operational, and financial management of Emergency & Critical Care service
- Develop action plans and report outcomes to the Chief Veterinary Technician
- Assume budgetary and fiscal accountability and is responsible for the ongoing effective operation of units
- Partners with the hospital’s leadership team to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, staff development, and career ladder to ensure compliance with national standards and state regulatory requirements
- Provide input to strategic decisions related to clinical veterinary care
- Monitor operations such as level of veterinary clinical care to improve the day-to-day operations of assigned hospital departments
- Mentor and guide LVT Manager, Team Leaders, Lead Technicians, and Administrator on Duty to ensure excellence in hospital’s functionality
- Act as liaison between clinical staff and Department Heads, Service Heads, and Senior Veterinarians
- Responsible for the overall supervision of staff in ECC
- Ensure compliance with all accrediting agencies
- Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Emergency & Critical Care service and patients, including scheduling and other areas as applicable
- Perform responsibilities in accordance with hospital goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrates core value of CARE through positive behavior and acting as an ambassador for AMC
- Ensure a commitment to excellent customer service
- Act as Chief Veterinary Technician as needed
- All other related projects and duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications (including education & experience):
- Current NYS Veterinary Technician Licensure required, VTS preferred
- 5 years supervisory/management experience required
- 3-5 years Veterinary LVT Experience in Emergency & Critical Care
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
