The Surveillance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the security and safety of our cannabis facilities using advanced video surveillance systems. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the protection of cannabis products, personnel, and equipment by monitoring security footage, identifying potential threats, and responding to incidents as necessary. A solid understanding of the cannabis industry’s security requirements and regulations is essential for success in this position.

Essential Functions
Surveillance Monitoring & Security Operations
- Surveillance Monitoring: Continuously observe live footage from multiple cameras to identify potential security breaches, suspicious activity, or unusual behavior across the cannabis facilities.
- Security System Maintenance: Ensure the functionality of all video surveillance equipment, including cameras, DVR/NVR systems, and alarms. Report any issues or malfunctions immediately.
- Incident Reporting: Document and report security incidents, breaches, or suspicious activity promptly to the appropriate personnel or authorities.
- Evidence Gathering: Review and analyze footage to gather evidence for investigations, ensuring the footage is properly stored for future reference.
- Work in tandem with the loss prevention team to mitigate security risks and support the overall security of the facilities.
- Collaborate with shared services teams to ensure seamless coordination and effective security management across the facilities.
- Response to Alarms: Respond to security alarms or system alerts as needed, coordinating with security personnel and other departments.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs and records of surveillance activities, incidents, and any equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure surveillance operations comply with company policies and local cannabis industry security regulations.
- Assist in implementing and following security SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure safety and compliance.
- Stay up-to-date on marijuana laws and compliance changes.
- Collaborate with the Loss Prevention team to ensure policies are adhered to and enforced.
- Reliable transportation is a must.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Prior experience in video surveillance or security roles, preferably within the cannabis industry or a regulated environment.
- Proficiency and familiarity with CCTV systems, security cameras, DVR/NVR systems, and alarm systems.
- Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong work ethic.
Security certifications or specialized training in surveillance operations.
- 6 months prior Security, Loss Prevention, Guard, Law Enforcement, or Military Experience
- Ability and willingness to be cross trained at multiple sites with flexible availability.
- Ability to respond to security situations in a high-pressure environment.
- Primarily seated role, monitoring surveillance systems for extended periods.
- Ability to stay focused and alert in a controlled, indoor environment.
- Ability to work weekends, nights, evenings, and holidays as needed, depending on facility operations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado.
